Beekeeping cooperative initiative
built collectively
Through partnerships in Guatemala, Uganda, Honduras, and Brazil, this multi-country initiative focuses on beekeeping cooperatives in support of climate-resilient livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and community-led development.
Like many of our partnerships, sustainable beekeeping sits at the intersection of livelihoods, environmental stewardship, local leadership, and long-term resilience.
Many beekeeping cooperatives operate with 12–15 hives, providing supplemental income for families. Producers share that reaching 50 hives is often the threshold where beekeeping becomes a more stable and economically sustainable livelihood.

opportunities
In addition to honey production, this project supports the exploration of opportunities to help cooperatives diversify into value-added bee products such as medicinal balms, soaps, candles, and cosmetics. This project assesses equipment needs that could strengthen local processing, improve product quality, and expand market opportunities.
