Salvos Prelorentzos Peace Award

Garcia Family Receives Recognition

The 2010 Salvos Prelorentzos Peace Award honoured the Garcia Family (Jose, Marina, Delmy, and husband Michael Hoyt, Dinorah, Roger) on November 9 at City Hall.  The Salvos Prelorentzos Peace Award was established in 1996 by Project Ploughshares to recognize those who have made significant contributions to peace and human rights.  Past recipients include individuals (Patti Hartnagel, Michael Kalmanowich, Michale Phair, Earle Waugh, Jim Gurnett) and organizations (Change for Children, Raging Grannies, Women in Black, Arab-Jewish Women’s Peace Coalition) but this is the first time the award is presented to a family.
