Advancing Digital Equity
November 21, 2025
Late last month, Change for Children’s Executive Director, Lorraine Swift, joined an international team of innovators to present a workshop at the Global Development Conference 2025, highlighting Change for Children’s growing role in advancing digital learning equity. Hosted by the 60 Million Girls Foundation, the workshop showcased a decade of impact in reaching remote learners. Drawing on our experience implementing solar-powered classrooms and supporting offline digital education in Indigenous and rural communities in Nicaragua and Guatemala, Lorraine shared how digital tools help narrow the digital divide — from teacher training and the integration of the Mobile Learning Lab (MLL) into classroom pedagogy, to the creation of climate change content through an Indigenous lens.
Participating in global conferences not only allows us to share our field-tested approaches, but also to connect with partners, spark new ideas, and bring home best practices that strengthen our work. Lorraine contributed insights on local content curation, culturally relevant pedagogy, and the practical realities of deploying technology where connectivity is limited — reinforcing Change for Children’s commitment to ensuring that every learner, regardless of location, has access to quality education.
“Offline doesn’t have to mean left behind. Innovative tools are opening doors for remote learners everywhere.” —Lorraine Swift
