Tanzania – with Hands Across Africa

Project: Vocational Training Program for Orphans of AIDS: Moshi, Tanzania
Partners: Partner(s): Amani Children’s Home
Canadian Project Partner: Hands Across Africa www.handsacrossafrica.org

At the base of Mt.Kilimanjaro is the town of Moshi. Within Moshi there is an orphanage, Amani Children’s Home, that houses about 60 children.

Amani Children’s Home takes in street children, and HIV/AIDS orphans and provides them with education, health information and a hope of reunification with their families. Change for Children supports the vocational training program here, which is designed for children who have graduated from primary school and have been unable to enter secondary school due to lack of space or low grades.

Programs offered include: carpentry, electrician training, mechanics, traditional drumming and art performance.

HAA also supports the Moyamba Rehabilitation Clinic in Sierra Leone – click here for more info on that project.
